CHAOS: THE FAR SIDE

Kanata Content Update • September 20, 2026

A pale clown waits in Henesys. A mirror laughs at things you cannot see. Somewhere beyond the familiar world, the curtain is about to rise.

Complete The Far Side, a seven-chapter Kanata adventure, to unlock the Chaos World: three lives, hourly Whims, powerful Masks and account rewards. This update also brings permanent jump-quest restoration, Monster Book medal storage, combat fixes and the full-price meso auction house.

The Far Side - A New Kanata Questline

Begin with Lune

Visit Lune in Henesys, between Mr. Moneybags and Maple TV, on the normal Kanata world. The first chapter opens at level 10. Continue the story as your character grows; each chapter requires the previous chapter to be completed.

The finale opens at level 160. Completing it awards Far-Sider and unlocks Chaos for your entire account. Returning to the world-selection screen lets you choose the newly unlocked world.

Required Level Chapter Your Next Performance
10 The Pale Clown Receive the Moon Mirror and discover your Pale Echo on three different hunting maps.
30 Masks in the Dirt Gather 20 Mask Shards while carrying the Mirror. Some shards require finding an Echo.
60 Star-Glass Gather 10 Star-Glass and solve The Jester’s Crown at Lune.
90 Rehearsal Step into the solo Cue Stage and earn enough applause to pass.
120 Encore Answer the Echo’s four riddles, then defeat the naturally appearing Kanata Chaos Jester.
140 The Other Face Survive Eclipse Descent and light all five Star-Lanterns.
160 Kanata Complete Lune’s finale, receive Far-Sider and unlock the Chaos world.

The Moon Mirror & Pale Echo

The Moon Mirror reveals personal encounters while you explore. Its laughter provides warmer-or-colder hints as you search for Pale Echo, an NPC visible to its owner rather than a shared town resident.

  • The Mirror has a 10-second cooldown.
  • Look for hunting maps with monsters. Towns, boss maps and instances do not count for the exploration objective.
  • The first chapter requires three different maps.
  • Keep the Mirror with you during the shard chapter.
  • If your Mirror goes missing, speak with Lune for a replacement.

For Mask Shards, hunt Wooden Masks in Initial Excavation Area and Rocky Masks in Excavation Completion Area. For Star-Glass, hunt Star Pixies in Cloud Park I and II and Lunar Pixies in Cloud Park III and IV.

The Encore chapter requires a real Chaos Jester encounter. Accepting the quest does not summon a free boss.

Chapter Rewards

Chapter Base EXP Additional Reward
The Pale Clown 3,000 Story progression
Masks in the Dirt 25,000 20,000 mesos
Star-Glass 250,000 100,000 mesos
Rehearsal 1,200,000 Story progression
Encore 4,000,000 Story progression
The Other Face 12,000,000 Story progression
Kanata Far-Sider medal and account-wide Chaos world access

EXP above is the base quest reward. Your actual EXP reward uses the server’s applicable EXP rate. Far-Sider grants +3 STR, DEX, INT and LUK.

New Solo Trials

The Jester’s Crown

The Far Side’s introductory constellation puzzle teaches you how to build a matching star pattern. It includes a helpful ghost reference and unlimited checks. Take your time learning the board before attempting Motley’s harder Chaos challenges.

Cue Stage

The curtain rises on a solo performance with three 45-second acts, following a short introduction. Watch the cue and defeat the requested props: Jester Scarlion, Twisted Jester or Wooden Mask.

  • Reach 150 points to pass.
  • Correct kills award 10 points.
  • Your first wrong-target mistake is forgiven.
  • Later qualifying wrong-target mistakes deduct 5 points.
  • Wrong-hit penalties distinguish deliberate single-target mistakes from incidental multi-target hits.

Keep your eyes on the cue: boos cost applause, not extra seconds from the act’s clock.

Eclipse Descent

Enter a private Unknown Underground Passage for a ten-minute solo trial. Your objective is to find and light five Star-Lanterns while Dark Wyverns pursue you.

  • Additional hunter waves arrive every two minutes.
  • Lit lanterns provide healing and protected space against the hunters.
  • Triggering a trap removes 30 seconds from the timer instead of directly taking HP.
  • The passage retains its darkness effect, including proper coverage at supported HD resolutions.

Personal quest instances return you to Henesys. Their monsters are part of the trial, not a repeatable reward-farming route.

Chaos World - Three Lives. One Run.

Chaos is a separate world unlocked by The Far Side finale. Create a new character, begin with no mesos and build your run without importing wealth from Kanata.

Rule Chaos
Lives 3; the third counted death ends that character’s run
Starting character slots 2, expandable to 6
Inventory space 96 slots in every inventory tab
Starting mesos 0
Base EXP rate 12×, compared with Kanata’s base rate
Monster HP 200% of normal, before applicable modifiers
Monster damage 125% of normal, before applicable modifiers

The Chaos HUD shows your lives, Mask and current Whim/countdown. A fallen character is removed from the selectable Chaos character list.

Earn More Character Slots

Four account-wide progression milestones each unlock another slot:

  1. Reach level 70.
  2. Earn a qualifying boss victory.
  3. Reach level 120.
  4. Earn Unbroken by reaching level 120 without losing a life.

The boss milestone recognizes qualifying victories over Zakum, Chaos Zakum, Horntail, Chaos Horntail or Pink Bean.

A Separate Economy

Chaos characters cannot use trading, player shops, parcel sending, shared storage, the Cash Shop or the ITC. Kanata’s account economy services and benefits, including EXP subscriptions, pet-vacuum service and teleport-rock rentals, do not carry into the run. Ordinary player commands are also disabled.

Legitimate overflow deliveries, such as job rewards, can still be received through parcels. This exception does not open player-to-player shipping into Chaos.

The Chaos Ledger is the intended bridge back to Kanata: earn achievements in Chaos, then claim their account rewards with a Kanata character at Lune.

Bosses and ordinary party quests still cost lives, including Dragon Rider. Protected content includes Mu Lung Dojo, Monster Carnival, Snowball, Coconut, OX Quiz, Ariant Arena, Sheep Ranch, Witch Tower, Ola Ola, Physical Fitness Test, the listed jump quests and designated safe puzzle instances. Do not assume other maps are safe.

Meet Motley, the Mask Keeper

Find Motley in Chaos-world Henesys, Ellinia, Perion, Kerning City, Lith Harbor, Orbis, El Nath, Ludibrium and Leafre. In Henesys, Motley occupies the spot corresponding to Lune’s location in Kanata.

Motley lets you choose or remove a Mask, check the current and upcoming Whim, inspect Ledger progress and enter the Chaos constellation challenges. To return to another world, log out and choose it through world selection.

The Jester’s Whims

Chaos changes its mood every hour. One of seven Whims takes the stage on the server’s hour boundary, and the next Whim is announced five minutes beforehand. Newly applied downsides have a 60-second grace period.

Whim Benefit Cost or Twist
The Jester Naps +15% EXP and mesos A quieter hour to keep progressing
Pay Day +50% mesos; +25% drops Newly spawning monsters gain 20% HP
Encore! +25% EXP Twice-as-fast respawns and 30% higher monster population targets
Prop Shop Kills may produce buff consumables; +50% potion drops −15% mesos
Sugar Rush +20 Speed; +10 Jump −20% drops
Full Moon +35% EXP Newly spawning monsters hit 15% harder
Glass Carnival +20% damage dealt +12% damage taken

All seven Whims appear once per shuffled cycle. Full Moon and Glass Carnival cannot follow each other directly.

Whims apply to eligible ordinary hunting maps. Boss content, party quests, jump quests and instances are excluded. Changes to monster HP or attack apply to newly spawned monsters.

Positive extra damage taken from a Mask and Whim is capped at +25% combined. Whim-added damage cannot turn an otherwise survivable hit into a lethal one; this does not protect you from an attack that was already lethal.

Four Masks, Four Ways to Play

Speak with Motley to equip a Mask or choose to wear none. Masks belong to the character, and there is no daily change cooldown.

Mask Benefit Trade-Off
Greed +40% mesos and drops −25% EXP
Sorrow +30% EXP −40% mesos and drops
Wrath +20% damage dealt +15% damage taken
Fear −20% damage taken; +10 Speed −20% damage dealt

Your Mask persists between maps and is restored after revival or dispel. Remove it through Motley, rather than canceling it as an ordinary buff.

Mask damage bonuses affect the damage monsters actually receive. The original client’s floating damage numbers may not show that adjustment.

Chaos Constellation Boards

Motley offers three challenges: The Grinning Moon, Three Bows and The Last Curtain. Unlike the introductory Jester’s Crown, these boards demand care.

  • Patterns rotate or mirror between openings.
  • Each opening has a ten-minute time limit.
  • Six failed checks trigger a ten-minute lock.
  • Closing and reopening a board does not erase mistakes.
  • Your first solve of each board grants EXP equal to one-twentieth of your current level’s EXP requirement.
  • Repeat solves do not award that first-clear EXP again.

For Starless Night, solve The Last Curtain for the first time without any prior failed check. Reopening the board or waiting out a lock does not restore flawless eligibility.

The Chaos Ledger

Your run can end, but its achievements can still leave a reward for your account. Earn Ledger milestones in Chaos, then visit Lune in Kanata to claim them.

Each achievement can be claimed once per account. Equipment rewards are bound. AbsoLab and Arcane selections respect the claiming character’s class and weapon compatibility. Make room before claiming: a full inventory refuses the claim without consuming it.

Achievement Requirement Reward
Level 60 Reach level 60 in Chaos One Superior Gollux piece
Level 100 Reach level 100 in Chaos One Superior Gollux piece
Level 120 Reach level 120 in Chaos One Superior Gollux piece
Level 140 Reach level 140 in Chaos One Superior Gollux piece
Unbroken Reach level 120 without losing a life Sweetwater piece, Unbroken medal and another Chaos slot
Solo Curtain: Zakum Complete a qualifying solo Zakum encounter AbsoLab piece
Solo Curtain: Horntail Complete a qualifying solo Horntail encounter AbsoLab piece
Clean Performance Solo Horntail without recovery items or a life lost during the encounter Arcane Umbra piece
Masquerade Earn an eligible Pink Bean victory while wearing Wrath Arcane Umbra piece
The Jester’s Equal Earn an eligible Chaos Horntail victory Compatible Arcane Umbra weapon and The Jester’s Equal medal
Firewalker Clear Breath of Lava in under four minutes without taking damage The Jester’s Throne chair
Acrobat Clear four distinct permanent jump-quest families Sweetwater piece
The Long Show Defeat 10,000 monsters on one character AbsoLab piece
Starless Night Complete the first Last Curtain solve without a prior failed check Lune’s Crescent chair
Curtain Call Reach level 200 Curtain Caller medal and Far Side Mantle cape

The four Gollux milestones exclude pieces already claimed by the account, letting you build out the set instead of repeatedly claiming the same piece.

Boss rewards require at least 15% personal contribution to tracked encounter HP and being in the same field instance when the final boss dies; party damage is not shared. Masquerade and The Jester’s Equal allow group clears, and Wrath must be equipped when Pink Bean dies for Masquerade.

Solo credit requires being the only player present at completion and the only damage contributor across the tracked encounter, including Zakum’s arms and Horntail’s final-cave parts. Departed helpers still invalidate solo. Clean Performance starts at your first damaging hit in the final encounter; recovery items or losing a life spoil it, and revival/reentry does not erase that.

New Medals & Cosmetics

Reward Bonuses
Far-Sider +3 STR, DEX, INT and LUK
Unbroken +5 STR, DEX, INT and LUK; +100 HP
The Jester’s Equal +10 STR, DEX, INT and LUK; +5 Weapon Attack and Magic Attack
Curtain Caller +12 STR, DEX, INT and LUK; +8 Weapon Attack and Magic Attack
Far Side Mantle Cosmetic cash cape; no added combat stats
The Jester’s Throne Chair with 40 HP/MP recovery; untradeable and unsellable
Lune’s Crescent Chair with 40 HP/MP recovery; untradeable and unsellable

All four new medals have no equip-level requirement and are unique, untradeable and unsellable.

Wall of Masks

Visit Lune to view the ten most recent fallen Chaos characters. The Wall of Masks is an in-game memorial to completed runs.

Permanent Jump Quests Return

This update restores the entrances, quest interactions and completion routes for ten permanent courses across five families. These also support Chaos’s Firewalker and Acrobat challenges.

Family Courses & Key NPCs
Breath of Lava Complete the course through Lira; Amon provides the return route
Pet-Walking Road Henesys course with Trainer Bartos and Trainer Frod
Kerning Subway B1, B2 and B3, including their completion chests
Forest of Tenacity I, II and III through Sleepywood’s Mysterious Statue and John’s flower quests
Forest of Endurance I and II through Ellinia’s Shane and Sabitrama’s medicine quests

Acrobat requires four different families. Clearing several subway floors or forest tiers still counts as one family.

  • The Mysterious Statue recognizes the corresponding active or completed John quests.
  • Shane’s active Diet Medicine route costs your level ×100 mesos; the active Anti-Aging Medicine route costs your level ×200 mesos.
  • Completed Sabitrama quests allow free return visits. An active later quest correctly takes priority over an already completed earlier course.
  • Bartos supplies his letter on Pet-Walking Road. Frod exchanges it for 2 closeness for a summoned pet; if no pet is summoned, the letter is returned.
  • Completion requires traversing the course and reaching its endpoint. Arriving directly on a final map does not award a clear.

Combat, Progression & Stability Fixes

  • Corrected Fighter and Dawn Warrior Final Attack target limits after the matching learned Slash Blast, preventing legitimate multi-target attacks from being rejected.
  • Corrected monster-disease restoration alongside carried buffs, addressing an invalid skill-icon crash during character-state restoration.
  • Fixed solo Zakum credit to include participation during the arm phase, rather than only the final body.
  • Fixed Horntail encounter tracking so revival cannot erase a spoiled clean-performance attempt.
  • Constellation clears and first-clear EXP save together; reopening retains mistakes, and interrupted eligible Ledger rewards can recover.
  • The Long Show retains kill progress through saves and transfers, including progress below the next hundred-kill boundary.
  • Strengthened death saving so older character state cannot overwrite a counted Chaos death.
  • Whims switch on the hour, with reliable notice/HUD recovery. Encore! correctly applies and removes its respawn and population changes.
  • Masks and the Chaos HUD restore when returning to gameplay. Updated client files include the constellation interface, custom NPC/reward art and Eclipse Descent’s HD darkness fix.
  • The twelve existing Monster Book achievement medals can now move between characters on the same account through storage.

For this adventure, your first stop is simple: Henesys → Lune → The Pale Clown, starting at level 10.

The curtain is open. How far will your run go?
